Memories

Last night as I was archiving my children’s school artwork, I came across a big folder of greeting cards.

Cards spanning three decades of life lived through birthdays, weddings, graduations, valentines, Halloween, Christmases, mother’s days, farewells, just becauses, and typewritten correspondence from my parents.

As I went through each and every card it dawned on me that I no longer keep in touch with 90% of the card givers and I was no longer the person to whom these cards were intended.

With the passage of time and the experiences I’ve lived through the person to whom these cards were addressed to seemed a distant memory.

But you know what? I love who I’ve become and where I’m at in life.

In the end I put 90% of those cards in the recycling bin and kept the remaining 10% for the lovely artwork and for the memories.
